The jewel has a very fascinating history.
In ancient times it was handed down from mother to daughter, usually the long-awaited passing was for the big occasions: marriage or the birth of a child. Thus, the unique and precious ring would remain in the same family for centuries, following the passing of generations, witness to an almost imperceptible passage of time.
But what are its origins?
Naturally, such a special object has many legends behind it. The most popular one narrates that the first Sardinian wedding ring was forged by the Janas, fairies who inhabited the wild and isolated corners of the island in the Nuragic age. They lived in the Domus de Janas (Fairy Houses) and here they worked filigree, making rings and jewellery of all kinds, set with precious stones typical of the island such as coral or obsidian. This jewellery was then worn by the fairies on their special occasions, such as meeting the deity.
Here the Sardinian faith takes on a high, mystical, otherworldly significance: even today, women recognise its value and wear it with enormous respect. This object therefore has something magical about it.
Even the custom of wearing it only on the left ring finger is not accidental. According to ancient beliefs, it is precisely at this point that the vein of love (vena amoris) passes, i.e. the vein that reaches the heart, carrying blood, oxygen, life.
